Lesfic version of JosephineTey's Miss Pym Disposes

 Chapter 1

Lucy Pym had always been fascinated by the human mind. As a young girl, she would spend hours observing the people around her, analyzing their behavior, and trying to understand their motivations. That fascination had led her to pursue a career in psychology, and she had become one of the most respected experts in the field.

Now, as she sat on the train to the Leys, a women's college in England, Lucy was looking forward to giving a lecture on her latest research. The topic was the influence of childhood experiences on adult behavior, and Lucy had spent months preparing her presentation.

As she arrived at the college, Lucy was greeted by the headmistress, Miss Denning. Miss Denning was a stern woman, but Lucy had always found her to be fair and just.

"Welcome, Miss Pym," said Miss Denning. "We are so honored to have you here today. Your reputation precedes you."

"Thank you, Miss Denning," replied Lucy with a smile. "I'm delighted to be here."

As Lucy made her way to the lecture hall, she noticed a group of students gathered around a tall, striking woman with long, dark hair. The woman was wearing a tweed suit and a fedora, and Lucy couldn't help but be drawn to her.

"Who is she?" Lucy asked one of the students.

"That's Miss Langton," replied the student. "She's the new sports coach. She's quite something, isn't she?"

Lucy felt a flutter in her chest as she watched Miss Langton walk away. She had never felt such a strong attraction to another woman before.

As she began her lecture, Lucy found herself distracted by thoughts of Miss Langton. She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to run her hands through that dark hair, to feel those strong arms around her.

After the lecture, Lucy was approached by Miss Denning.

"Miss Pym, I wonder if you might be interested in staying for the weekend?" said Miss Denning. "We have a number of social events planned, and I think it would be good for our students to have the opportunity to speak with you outside of the lecture hall."

Lucy hesitated for a moment, but then she thought of Miss Langton.

"I would be delighted to stay," she replied.

Over the course of the weekend, Lucy found herself drawn to Miss Langton more and more. They spoke at length about their shared love of sports and psychology, and Lucy felt a connection with Miss Langton that she had never felt with anyone else.

As the weekend drew to a close, Lucy knew that she had to tell Miss Langton how she felt. She found Miss Langton on the lawn, watching the students play a game of field hockey.

"Miss Langton, I have to tell you something," said Lucy, her heart racing.

Miss Langton turned to face her, and Lucy saw something in her eyes that she had never seen before.

"I think I know what you're going to say, Miss Pym," said Miss Langton. "And I feel the same way."

Lucy felt tears welling up in her eyes as Miss Langton took her hand.

"Let's go for a walk," said Miss Langton. "I want to show you something."

They walked through the gardens, hand in hand, until they came to a small pond. Miss Langton took a coin out of her pocket and threw it into the water.

"I always make a wish when I come here," she said. "And today, my wish has come
